It's Not About Now

She watched as they carried her baby away.
She heard all the words when there was nothing to say.
How could she stay here when her heart had to go
And keep on believing when she just couldn't know...

It's not about now, it's not about here -
It's all about then when there's nothing to fear.
It's all about there where the mystery's clear,
When then will be now and there will be here.

He watched as his future just went up in smoke,
And wondered if hope was some cruel kind of joke.
Had the work and the planning, the sweat and the tears
Brought only failure and a jumble of fears?

It's not about now, it's not about here -
It's all about then when there's nothing to fear.
It's all about there where the mystery's clear,
When then will be now and there will be here.

They'd only had such a short little while
To love and to heal and to learn how to smile -
It didn't seem fair when she had to let go,
Let him slip from her arms when she needed him so.

It's not about now, it's not about here -
It's all about then when there's nothing to fear.
It's all about there where the mystery's clear,
When then will be now and there will be here.

I saw all your heartaches; I felt all your pain,
And I never left you in sunshine or rain.
I brought every season so you'd come to see
It was all about you, child, and it's all about Me.

It's not about now, it's not about here -
It's all about then when there's nothing to fear.
It's all about there where the mystery's clear,
When then will be now and there will be here.

The Love Of God

The love of God is greater far
Than tongue or pen can ever tell;
It goes beyond the highest star,
And reaches to the lowest hell;
The guilty pair, bowed down with care,
God gave His Son to win;
His erring child He reconciled,
And pardoned from his sin.

O love of God, how rich and pure!
How measureless and strong!
It shall forevermore endure
The saints' and angels' song.

When years of time shall pass away,
And earthly thrones and kingdoms fall,
When men, who here refuse to pray,
On rocks and hills and mountains call,
God's love so sure, shall still endure,
All measureless and strong;
Redeeming grace to Adam's race -
The saints' and angels' song.

O love of God, how rich and pure!
How measureless and strong!
It shall forevermore endure
The saints' and angels' song.

Could we with ink, the ocean fill,
And were the skies of parchment made,
Were every stalk on earth a quill,
And every man a scribe by trade,
To write the love of God above,
Would drain the ocean dry.
Nor could the scroll contain the whole,
Though stretched from sky to sky.

- Lyric by Frederick M. Lehman (1917), based on the poem Haddamut by cantor Meir Ben Isaac Nehorai (1050). The text which comprises the third verse was reportedly written by an anonymous patient on the wall of his room at an insane asylum. Music by Frederick M. Lehman (1917).

Make It Real

I've seen a lot of crazy things done in Your name.
I know the tricks behind the magic show.
I've almost thrown the towel in a time or two
and walked away from everything I know.
But I can't fill this emptiness inside of me,
Or calm the troubled waters of my mind.
So if You're really out there and You're listening
Then prove to me that those who seek will find.

If You can just see fit to show me some of who You are.
If You can shed some light into this broken sinner's heart.
I need to know the truth and I need something I can feel -
I need You to make it real.

There must be some good reason why You brought me here.
Through valleys where the shadows hover close.
Down here, there's a mask to cover every face,
But Your sweet face I long to see the most.
So if You think there's just the slightest hope for me,
In spite of all my questions and my doubts,
Then let me hear Your still small voice speak out my name
And let me know what others talk about.

If You can just see fit to show me some of who You are.
If You can shed some light into this broken sinner's heart.
I need to know the truth and I need something I can feel -
I need You to make it real.

More Than Ever
(Third Verse)

Is Love's Old Sweet Story too good to be true?
Do you find all this hard to believe?
Has the cruel world we live in so battered your heart
That the hurt child inside you can't grieve?
I can't say I blame you, I've been where you are.
But all I can say is, "It's true!"
You're wanted, You're precious,
You're the love of His heart.
And the old rugged cross was for you.

Oh but now more than ever I cherish the cross,
More than ever I sit at His feet.
All the miles of my journey have proved my Lord true
And He is so precious to me.

Meekness And Majesty

Meekness and majesty,
manhood and deity,
in perfect harmony,
the man who is God.

Lord of eternity,
dwells in humanity,
kneels in humility and washes our feet.

O what a mystery,
meekness and majesty,
bow down and worship
for this is your God, this is your God.

Father's pure radiance,
perfect in innocence,
yet learns obedience to death on a cross.

Suffering to give us life,
conquering through sacrifice,
and as they crucify prays: "Father forgive."

Wisdom unsearchable,
God the invisible,
love indestructible in frailty appears.

Lord of infinity,
stooping so tenderly,
lifts our humanity to the heights of His throne.

The Old Rugged Cross Made A Difference
(Third Verse)

There's a room filled with sad, ashen faces;
Without hope death has wrapped them in gloom.
But at the side of a saint there's rejoicing,
For life can't be sealed in a tomb.

And the old rugged cross made the difference
In a life bound for heartache and defeat;
I will praise Him forever and ever,
For the cross made the difference for me.

We Fall Down

Cursing every step of the way,
he bore a heavy load
to the market ten miles away.
The journey took its toll.
And every day he passed a monastery's
high, cathedral walls,
and it made his life seem
miserable and small.
And he wondered how it would be
to live in such a place -
to be warm, well-fed and at peace,
to shut the world away.
So when he passed a priest
who walked for once beyond the iron gate,
he said, "Tell me of your life inside that place."
And the priest replied,

We fall down, we get up.
We fall down, we get up.
We fall down, we get up.
And the saints are just the sinners
who fall down and get up

Disappointment followed him home.
He'd hoped for so much more.
But he saw himself in a light,
he had never seen before.
'Cause if the priests who fail
can find the grace of God to be enough,
then there must be some hope for the rest of us.
There must be some hope left for us.
'Cause,

We fall down, we get up.
We fall down, we get up.
We fall down, we get up.
And the saints are just the sinners
who fall down and get up.

I Believe, Help Thou My Unbelief

I believe, Help Thou my unbelief
I take the finite risk of trusting like a child
I believe, Help Thou my unbelief
I walk into the unknown, trusting all the while.

I long so much to feel the warmth
That others seem to know.
But should I never feel a thing,
I claim Him even so.

Lord, Send Your Angels

When I'm alone and the light slowly fades.
Cold with the night closing in
I know the shadow of Almighty wings;
Lord, won't You send them again?

Lord, send Your angels to watch over me.
I'm so afraid of the dark.
Lord, send Your angels to watch over me.
Wrap me in sheltering arms.

Shield me.
Keep me.
Hold me safe in your arms.

Sometimes the child inside of me cries
With fears of the dangers unseen
And questions with answers I can't seem to find;
Then You send Your angels to me.

We Have This Moment, Today

Hold tight to the sound of the music of living -
Happy songs from the laughter of children at play;
Hold my hand as we run through the sweet fragrant meadows,
Making mem'ries of what was today.

Tiny voice that I hear is my little girl calling
For Daddy to hear just what she has to say;
And my little son running there down the hillside,
May never be quite like today.

Tender words, gentle touch, and a good cup of coffee,
And someone that loves me and wants me to stay;
Hold them near while they're here, and don't wait for tomorrow
To look back and wish for today.

Take the blue of the sky and the green of the forest,
The gold and the brown of the freshly-mown hay,
Add the pale shades of spring and the circus of autumn,
And weave you a lovely today.

For we have this moment to hold in our hands,
And to touch as it slips through our fingers like sand;
Yesterday's gone, and tomorrow may never come,
But we have this moment, today.

I Heard The Bells On Christmas Day

I heard the bells on Christmas day
Their old familiar carols play,
And wild and sweet, the words repeat
Of peace on earth, good will to men.

I thought how, as the day had come,
The belfries of all Christendom
Had rolled along the unbroken song
Of peace on earth, good will to men.

And in despair I bowed my head
"There is no peace on earth", I said,
"For hate is strong and mocks the song
Of peace on earth, good will to men."

Then pealed the bells more loud and deep:
"God is not dead, nor doth He sleep
The wrong shall fail, the right prevail
With peace on earth, good will to men."

Till ringing, singing, on its way
The world revolved from night to day,
A voice, a chime, a chant sublime
Of peace on earth, good will to men.
