Janice
Chaffee update
My
friends Jim, Janice, Dan, Paul and I celebrated Paul's
59th birthday the other night. I love getting together with these
wonderful friends because the conversation is so good.
Janice has been battling cancer. She and Jim have written
fascinating updates of her journey and they're posted on
her Web site.

Mark Lowry
concert to benefit Hurricane Katrina victims in Mobile
Premier
Productions has announced that the Mark Lowry concert
scheduled for Dauphin Way Baptist Church on Friday,
October 7, 2005, has been designated as a benefit concert for
Hurricane Katrina victims. All proceeds, beyond the basic
expenses of the concert, will be donated back to Dauphin Way
Baptist Church to be used locally in Mobile for those impacted
by the recent hurricane.
Admission to the concert will now be $5.00 at the door
and a love offering will be accepted. If you have already
purchased tickets for this concert, those
tickets will be accepted at the door instead of the
$5.00 and you will have a guaranteed seat in the Reserved
Artist Circle section at the front of the church.
"This is a tremendous opportunity
for the Christian community to reach out and impact
their city for Christ," states Gary Gentry with
Premier Productions. "Nobody can minister
to hurting people any better than Mark Lowry with his
unique blend of music and comedy. We hope everyone
takes advantage of the chance to see one of Christian
music's finest artists and support a great cause at
the same time. Everyone is welcome!

Knoxville
Unites was
an incredible success. Around 3,000 people turned out
for the concert. And over $48,000 was raised for Hurricane Katrina
relief. All of it going to the Red Cross.
The
sweet people of the Chilhowee
Hills Baptist Church opened the
doors and hearts to us. If you are ever in the Knoxville
area, you must visit this church. They say they're Baptist
but that choir is at least half Pentecostal. They set
the mood for the evening with their opening two songs;
full of the Spirit and worship.

Today, I'm
sitting in a recording studio in Nashville, TN. There
is a full orchestra on the other side of the glass.
I've never done this before... worked with a full orchestra.
I've hired an arranger who has been hiding for 20 years.
Really. But he is one of the best. Take
6 credits this arranger as the one
they learned chord structure from. Life's circumstances
have kept him from doing what he loves (arrange/write
music). But, on this project, he's coming out of hiding.
You're going to love this. I can't believe what my ears
are hearing.

The
entire project will be fully orchestrated. It's not
the regular project I've been working on. It's another
project I really haven't told many people about. And
I'm not going to tell you, either. Not yet. But you're going
to love it. I hope.

San
Antonio
I'm
performing in San Antonio tonight at the SBC Center.
Today, I ate some really good Mexican food. It was on
the river walk downtown. A bunch of us went out to
eat: Guy, Marsh, Wes (the new tenor with the Gaither
Vocal Band), Lori Apple and Lu Ann Burger. We ate at
Casa Rio. It's right on the river and a beautiful
place to eat. I admit it, I'm prejudiced towards Texas.
I love my home state. It's hot, it's humid but the
people are the nicest in the world. (No offense to all
of the rest of you in the world but they really are
nice. As I know most of you are, too.)
Next
weekend, I'll be with my
tour. If we're in your area, come see us!
I'm
stuffed and I'm going to go take a nap.

Unites
Remember
in my last
reMarks newsletter when I said: "I have been
glued to the TV watching the devastation in Louisiana
and Mississippi caused by Hurricane Katrina. During
one of the commercial breaks, I read an e-mail inviting
me to be a part of a benefit to help
raise money for the victims."
See
what happens when you read your e-mail? You're asked
to be a part of something
and the next thing you know... you're HOSTING!
